Abstract: |
An evaluation was undertaken at a proposed redevelopment site. Prehistoric potttery and flints had been found in the surrounding area, whilst early medieval timber structures and features had been excavated 80m to the north. Part of the wall of a 12th century hospital chapel may have extended onto the development site. During the evaluation, two 17th or 18th century brick drains were observed. It was concluded that a watching brief would be required at the potential medieval wall site, if demolition were to occur in this area. [AIP] |
