Abstract: |
A watching brief was maintained during a flood alleviation scheme comprising works on the banks and bed of the River Lyd, including the cutting of a culvert for a temporary diversion of the river during the reinforcement of the river bed with concrete sections. Little of archaeological interest was seen except for late 19th century and 20th century foundations, revealed behind the shops fronting onto Newerne Street during the excavation of a pipe trench for a sewer diversion.
