Abstract: |
An archaeological assessment was carried out on the proposed site for the city library and city park. The area was agricultural in use until about the 1750s. The area was then developed up around the Digbeth branch canal and later the railway goods yard. The assessment identified that a number of 19th century structures and buildings survived within the proposed development area but that most of the area was built on during the mid 20th century.
