Abstract: |
An archaeological desk based assessment was undertaken of an area of the Trent floodplain, located immediately north of the present river and extending west of the Trent-Derwent confluence which was the subject of a planning application for sand and gravel extraction. Areas of medieval ridge and furrow were identified as well as other documentary evidence relating to the medieval and post-medieval agricultural activities within the study area. Palaeochannels were also identified using aerial photography which had the potential to yield important palaeoenvironmental evidence. [AIP] |
