Abstract: |
A watching brief was carried out during the excavation of geological test pits. No archaeological features or artefacts were observed, but a small assemblage of fire cracked flint was recorded from ploughsoil in the immediate vicinity of one of the test pits, suggesting local prehistoric activity. As the test pit area was only small in comparison with the land needed for a reservoir it could not be taken as clear evidence of absence of surviving archaeological remains across the entire site.
