Abstract: |
An archaeological evaluation was undertaken by AOC Archaeology Group on the former Alliance House Site in Hove, East Sussex. The evaluation involved the opening of five, machine-excavated trenches, which were targeted so as to avoid the known areas of truncation. Trenches 4 and 5 on the west side of the site revealed modern truncation well in the natural chalk. Trenches 1,2 and 2 revealed made ground overlying clay and gravel colluvium, which in turn overlay natural chalk. No archaeological features other than plough marks were recorded in any of these three trenches.[Au] |
