Abstract: |
An evaluation was carried out to determine the nature of a mound which lay on the proposed site of a new road. A 40m length of woodland boundary bank was also recorded. The mound was found to be a round barrow, probably dating from the Middle Bronze Age. A struck flint was recovered from its base, and a secondary burial was represented by a Deverel-Rimbury barrel urn. The barrow appeared to have featured successive ring ditches around its base. Evidence of disturbance, possibly from tree roots or robber pits, was noted. [AIP] |
