Abstract: |
A desk-based assessment was carried out of a site in advance of proposed redevelopment. The proximity of the area to the river indicated a potential for prehistoric remains, though this was speculative. An Early Bronze Age beaker found 50m west of the site may have been significant, as beakers are associated with barrows, which are often found in clusters. The development area was located between two Saxon or medieval moated sites. The extent of the outbuildings and associated settlement was unknown, but may have occured within the development area. The likely depth and preservation of any surviving archaeological features in the development area could not be judged. [Au(abr)] |
