Abstract: |
A desktop assessment was undertaken ahead of redevelopment on the site, for which plannning consent had been granted. The assessment showed that the study area potentially contained a variety of significant archaeological material. This included Roman, Anglo-Saxon and medieval remains. The past recovery of significant quantities of Roman and medieval pottery and other artefacts from the site, as well as the recorded presence of medieval stone undercrofts supported this. Post-medieval deposits may also have survived above earlier remains. [Au] |
