Abstract: |
An evaluation was carried out at the proposed site of a residential development within medieval Halstead. No previous archaeological excavations had taken place in the area, although an 18th century wooden drain had been observed during redevelopment at one site. During the evaluation, a soakaway and the foundations of a brick structure were recorded. The latter probably represented a corn mill shown on a map of 1876; the soakaway was likely to have been contemporary. 19th-20th century pottery was recovered. [AIP] |
