Abstract: |
An archaeological evaluation was carried out on the site of a proposed development next to the 16th century Hull Castle and on top of part of the 17th century Citadel. Overfired and underfired bricks were found in a dump deposit. These were thought to be from the construction of the castle and were made close by. Ramparts of the 17th century Citadel were identified, made up of rammed clay. Platforms were recorded which were used in the construction of the Castle and part of the east bastion of the Castle was also encountered. [Au(abr)] |
