Abstract: |
There were no previously recorded archaeological sites within the area of the site; its elevated position overlooking the Hoopern Valley would have made it a favourable location for later prehistoric settlement or funerary activity. Romano-British artefacts had been found in two locations nearby and the site was located less than 100m to the north-west of the Danes Castle medieval earthwork (Scheduled Monument no. 24845).
