Abstract: |
The watching brief was carried out during groundworks at a farm, which may have stood on the site of an early chapel. Remaining farm buildings included a Grade II Listed barn, and an 18th century farmhouse, which did not form part of the development. During the watching brief, a wall footing associated with post-medieval pottery was recorded, and some of the stones removed from the buildings were found to have been re-used. No further features were noted, and it was concluded either that St Bride's had been a very small establishment, or that any associated buildings may have lain to the east of the farmhouse, as suggested by anecdotal evidence of finds.
