Abstract:		 Two evaluation trenches were excavated in Area 1. Trench 5 contained four furrows on a parallel alignment. Segments were excavated through two of the furrows, confirming they were shallow in depth and concave in profile. Trench 6 contained one ditch and three furrows on a north-west to south-east alignment and one ditch on a north-east to south-west alignment. One ditch was steep sided in profile and had a flattish base. Several fragments of\r\nLate pre-Belgic Iron Age and Early-Middle Iron Age pottery were recovered. The north-west to south-east extension of Trench 6 contained the second ditch on a north-east to south-west alignment. This also had steeply sloping sides, and a V-shaped profile. It contained 23 fragments of Late pre-Belgic Iron Age pottery, all thought to be derived from the same vessel. [Au(adp)]
