An archaeological evaluation, consisting of the excavation of a single 25m by 3m trial trench, was undertaken prior to the proposed redevelopment of the site. The excavation demonstrated that no significant archaeological deposits had survived. A modern overburden c.0.55m thick overlay natural alluvial deposits that contained no cultural artefacts.
