Abstract: |
Monitoring of the excavation of the foundation trench system revealed a sequence of archaeological deposits relating to the medieval and post-medieval periods. The possible western side of a 14th/15th century structure was recorded as well as probable blacksmithing activity in the form of waste filled ditches. Artefacts recovered throughout the duration of the watching brief included pottery dating from the 13th to 19th centuries, ceramic brick material to the 18th century and some examples of corroded 19th century metalwork.
