Abstract: |
An archaeological desk-based assessment of the site was produced as part of a planning application for development at 89-97 St John Street. The site lay within the precints of the Priory of St John of Jerusalem, the headquarters of the Hospitaller Order in England and development required Conservation area Consent and Listed Building Consent in addition to planning permission. A number of medieval buildings were expected to survive on parts of the site which was next to St John's Gate (Scheduled Ancient Monument no AGL8). [Au(adp)] |
