Abstract: |
The excavation of eight machine-dug contractor's test pits was observed in October 1994, on a site within the medieval settlement previously evaluated in 1992. Only one archaeological feature was revealed: a pit/gully 0.35m deep cutting the subsoil in Pit 8; this must have been modern as the subsoil here contained a sherd of 19th century pottery. The only medieval finds - five 12th/13th century pottery sherds - came from the subsoil layer in Pit 6.[AIP] |
