Abstract: |
Two large trenches and eight small 'keyhole' trenches were excavated in advance of the construction of a new library, a watching brief was also carried out later, during the excavation of the ground beams for the library. The Weighing House, thought to have been constructed between 1796 and 1810 was uncovered and investigated, later alterations and extensions were also studied. Evidence for the construction of both sides of the wharf basin on the site was found, along with evidence for at least one major phase of repair. [Au(adp)] |
