Abstract: |
An evaluation was carried out at the proposed site of a car showroom in Digbeth, which lay within the area of medieval Birmingham. Digbeth had become a regionally important centre for metal manufacture by the 16th century. During the evaluation, islands of archaeological deposits were found between areas of later disturbance. A waterlogged deposit contained pieces of leather and wood, dated by pottery to c. 1500-1800. Structural evidence for 18th and 19th century brick buildings was also recorded. [Au(adp)] |
