Abstract: |
A Ground Penetrating Radar Survey was undertaken at the site of the Globe Theatre, a Scheduled Ancient Monument dating from the 16th and 17th centuries. Part of the survey was carried out in a car-park area investigated by an archaeological evaluation in 1989, in order to determine whether the technique was capable of locating known anomalies at the site. A trial transect was also surveyed within a standing building (1-15 Anchor Terrace), in order to determine whether anomalies could be identified beneath the concrete slab known to exist below the building. Accurate results were obtained, and a proposal was made to undertake a complete survey of the Anchor Terrace site. [AIP] |
