Abstract: |
The study area contained the ruins of an early 19th century Congregational Church and an associated grave yard, which seemed to have been used for interments for a span of approximately 50 years in the later half of the 19th century. A Grade II Listed Building, No. 8 Lower High Street, was to be retained within the proposed development. The study area lay almost entirely within the Stourbridge Town Conservation Area. Situated in the historic core of Stourbridge several zones of potential archaeological interest were identified within the Study Area, which together had the potential to shed new light upon the medieval and post-medieval development of the town.
