Abstract: |
A desk-top study of a proposed development site at the centre of the Roman and medieval city was carried out. Many significant archaeological discoveries had been made throughout the area. Previous excavations at the site itself had revealed a Roman road and structural features, as well as medieval pits and wells. It was noted that the construction of Bolsa House would have destroyed archaeological deposits on the southern part of the site, although deposits may have survived on the northern part. Possible archaeological strategies, including an evaluation and excavation or in situ preservation, were suggested.[AIP] |
