Abstract: |
The report was prepared in support of an Environmental Impact Assessment for the redevelopment of Cricklewood. The area was well developed with a mixture of residential and industrial properties. The study area incorporated major road systems, including J1 of the M1 and regions of the north Circular and a substantial park of railway. Little in the way of development activity had occurred upon the site until the early 19th century, with the majority of the site remaining as farmland. However, the proximity of the site to two Areas of Archaeological Priority, the Roman Road of Watling Street and the park where remains of Clitterhouse Manor and farm may have existed, would probably require some archaeological field work to be carried out. Geological evidence indicated that prehistoric activity may have survived at the north of the site. There were two listed structures adjacent to the western edge of the development area and within the regeneration area and a further listed structure to the north of the regeneration areas. Potential impact upon their structure and/or settings would need to be considered in line with National Planning Legislation and Local Planning Policy. [Au(adp)] |
