Abstract: |
A desk-based and auger survey determined that the site lay within a nationally important prehistoric landscape characterised primarily by settlement and associated field systems but with a strong ritual component within the fen, as exemplified through the Flag Fen causeway and platform. The present site was also identified as lying within a similar environment and the potential for well-preserved prehistoric remains was highlighted. later landuse up to ths century was characterised as agricultural with a consequent decrease in archaeological significance.
