Abstract:		 An excavation of six trenches in the centre of Battle produced archaeological deposits of medieval date. Sandstone foundations of a building were located bordering Mount Street. The rear of the plot contained pits, gullies and a large ditch. A thick layer containing medieval pottery sealed most of these features. Relatively large quantities of medieval pottery were recovered from sealed contexts, which may have contributed to local ceramic studies. [Au]
