Abstract: |
An archaeological watching brief was carried out during the groundwork associated with the construction of a extension to the diocese of Ripon and Leeds offices. Prior to demolition in 1979 an early 19th century church had occupied the site. The excavations uncovered the well-preserved partial foundations of this church, which corresponded to early plans. Little evidence of a graveyard or associated burials was uncovered. A demolition deposit was noted across the site and may have concealed any surviving archaeological features and burials at greater depths. [Au(adp)] |
