Abstract: |
There were no definable concentrations of artefacts predating the post-medieval period. Prehistoric activity was reflected by the recovery of three worked flint artefacts of probable earlier Prehistoric date, and three pieces of burnt flint. A single sherd of medieval pottery was recovered, as well as fragments of burnt clay and slag of unknown date. A general spread of artefactual material dating to the post-medieval and modern periods was found across most of the fields subject to fieldwalking. The distribution of this material probably results from agricultural processes such as manuring. [Au(adp)] |
