Abstract: |
A desk-top assessment of a proposed development site which lay within both an Archaeological Priority Area and an Area of Special Character was undertaken. Artefacts dating from the palaeolithic to the iron age had been recorded nearby; possible Roman pottery had also been found, and early medieval artefacts had been dredged from the River Thames. Settlement in the area had been documented since the 11th century. An evaluation was recommended. [AIP] |
