Abstract: |
Archaeological recording was undertaken during the construction of footings and associated drainage runs for a kitchenette extension at the north west corner of St James' Church, Sulsoe. A possible boundary ditch of early-middle Saxon/early medieval date was partially revealed in two sections, running roughly parallel to Church Road. The combination of animal bone fragments and pottery dumped in this ditch suggested settlement in the vicinity. A leaf shaped flint arrowhead found in the ditch was clearly residual in this context, but nevertheless indicated activity in this area in the Late Neolithic or Early Bronze Age. [Au] |
