Abstract: |
An archaeological desk-based assessment was undertaken of the site of the Providence Row building and neighbouring prpoerties in Crispen Street which was to be redeveloped. The report suggested that archaeolgocial deposits, including part of a Roman cemetery, the outer precinct of a medieval hospital, the 16th century Artillery Ground and 17th century residential development, may well have survived on this site and were likely to be affected by the development.
