Abstract: |
A watching brief was maintained during the erection of a stock fence. An assemblage of late 18th-19th century artefacts, two pieces of medieval iron slag and one of post-medieval blast furnace slag were recoverdd from unstratified deposits. A post hole revealed a darker topsoil. This is interpreted as indicating deliberate infulling and may have been associated with the 18th landscaping of the surrounding parkland. [Au(abr)] |
