Abstract: |
A survey was undertaken of the Roman fort at Bradwell-on-Sea, a SAM, and its environs. The extent and nature of the past and continuing damage to the monument was assessed. Areas of archaeological potential for future research were identified, both within the fort itself and at several locations to its south and west. Deposits of Roman material on the salt marsh were demonstrated not to be part of an in situ structure, but were probably dumped from a previous excavation in 1864-5. [Au] |
