Abstract: |
There was reasonable potential for buried archaeological remains due to the development area lying within the historic core of the village and near to the church and manor house. A foundation trench was excavated around the whole building plan with a width of 0.7 metres and average depth of 1 metre unless otherwise stated. The topsoil within this area had been removed earlier and vehicle tracking obscured any clean natural clay. Yellow brown sandy clay was observed in most trenches along with a recently backfilled pond and well in the south-east corner. Only post medieval occupation debris was found. [Au(adp)] |
