The object of the archaeological work was to determine whether any remains of an earthwork of possible Iron Age date noted on the 1888 OS Map survived. The footing trenches for the extension did not reveal any archaeological stratigraphy relating to the possible Iron Age earthwork. Two fragments of briquetage were found however, and these may have indicated Iron Age activity in the area. [Au(adp)] |
