Abstract: |
A desk-top assessment of a proposed development site within an Archaeological Priority Area was undertaken. Prehistoric flints, bronze age features and iron age occupation evidence had been recorded in the surrounding area. Roman walls, pottery and a sarcophagus had been found nearby; 7th-9th century pottery and a timber hall had also been excavated. Part of the almonry of Westminster Abbey had lain on the site itself. It was concluded that an evaluation would be necessary. [AIP] |
