Abstract: |
The evaluation was undertaken on a site within the Avon Levels, a reclaimed wetland on the south of the River Severn. A high archaeological potential had been recognised as a result of investigation work associated with the construction of the English approaches to the Second Severn Crossing which revealed several sites, notably the Iron Age settlement at Hallen. Evidence relating to medieval and post-medieval activity on the site was revealed in the shape of a series of ditches and pottery finds. Continuing archaeological investigation of the site was recommended in order that the site was understood more completely. [AIP] |
