Abstract: |
Archaeological monitoring was undertaken of the groundworks associated with the redevelopment of the site. An archaeological feature was observed which might have related to the adjacent moat. Unfortunately practicalities prohibited its full examination and recording, although two medieval pottery sherds were retrieved from the spoil. No other archaeological features or finds were identified. The shallow topsoil and overburden were frequently observed to be directly over the natural clay indicating that the site had been truncated. [Au(abr)] |
