Abstract: |
Two areas were excavated, following an evaluation in 1999, within the footprint of the development of two blocks of housing, Block A and Block B. Block A was approximately 22m x 20m, and contained medieval marshland layers, a linear row of oak posts, several pits associated with tanning processes, and the remains of 16th and 18th century buildings. Block B, 44m x 28m, contained an early undated peat layer, medieval marshland layers, 12th century levelling layers and a number of shallow pits. Above these layers, dumped deposits were cut by the foundations of two phases of buildings. [Au(adp)] |
