Abstract: |
An archaeological trial trench was excavated across the line of a linear earthwork within Moss Carr Wood prior to proposed open-cast mining operations. The excavations revealed the earthworks comprised of two parallel ditches, one of which had been truncated by a later soak-away drain. No dating evidence was recovered; however, the location of the features suggested that they may have reflected the medieval Deer Park boundary or possibly formed a later medieval trackway. [Au] |
