Abstract:
An archaeological watching brief was undertaken during groundworks for the re-development of Treasury Court. The report also incorporated results from previous archaeological work carried out between 2002 and 2003. The project was successful in that the sense that the large majority of the archaeological deposits pre-dating medieval and post-medieval garden soil were preserved in situ which was identified as one of the planning requirements of the re-development. The 2004 watching brief further confirmed that the site had great archaeological potential and that it was of national importance to preserve the archaeology in situ for future research. [Au(adp)]
