Abstract: |
The desk-top study was undertaken in response to proposed improvements to the Humber Tidal Defences on the north bank of the Humber at Salt End, between Old Fleet and the village of Paull. Limited gradiometer, walkover and borehole surveys were also undertaken. The sites and monuments record for Humberside was used to identify the presence of prehistoric, Romano-British, medieval and post-medieval remains. Due to the significant amount of civil engineering work that would be undertaken and the amount of time this would take it was recommended that a clear programme of archaeological work be identified.
