Abstract: |
A burnt area was reported as being exposed during the course of digging a 'wildlife-scrape'. The subsequent site visit identified that there were two burnt features. One was half-sectioned and consisted of a shallow steep sided hollow. The feature contained no finds, however a single Mesolithic core was recovered from the material that had been removed from the site to the farmyard. It was probable that both features represented fires set in the bases of pits which had been backfilled whilst the fires were still burning. Samples of the charcoal and burnt clay were retained for further analysis. [AIP] |
