Abstract: |
An excavation was carried out at the site of a Parliamentary Building and a new underground station. Prehistoric struck flints, late bronze age peat deposits and medieval pottery were recorded. 14th century pits were found on the western part of the site. The eastern part seemed to have been reclaimed during the mid-16th to mid-17th centuries. Tudor rubbish pits, a wall and other structural features were recorded. Two complete 16th century ceramic watering cans were found at the bottom of a well. Several 17th-20th century features were also noted. [AIP] |
