Abstract: |
An evaluation was carried out at the proposed site of an office redevelopment. Prehistoric artefacts had been found nearby, and early medieval finds had been recovered from the River Thames. During the evaluation, pits and gullies dating from the bronze age to the early iron age were recorded. Pottery was found within the gullies. Late 13th-15th century building material, refuse and pottery were observed, and a post-medieval building sequence was recorded. Evidence of 19th century metalworking and a possible furnace were noted. It was concluded that further archaeological work would be necessary. [AIP] |
