Abstract: |
Further archaeological work was undertaken on land at Brecks Lane to investigate the nature of features uncovered in earlier archaeological work, in particular to determine any relationship between the previously identified ditch and probable structures to the north of the site. The remains of a stone built structure were re-cleaned and found to continue to the east. No relationship existed, however, between this structure and the previously identified ditch to the south. Further archaeological remains were identified in the central area of the site. These consisted of a charcoal rich deposit containing large amounts of medieval pottery and cereal grain, and a small linear feature, possibly of a structural nature. In conclusion, the additional fieldwork further confirmed the presence of at least one medieval structure and also provided good environmental evidence for domestic activity in the period. [Au] |
