Abstract: |
<summary>A watching brief undertaken during the excavation of building foundation trenches, on a site previously occupied by the Green Coat School (built in 1871), revealed that the present ground level comprised demolition deposits topped by tarmac. Lying below the demolition deposits, the truncated remains of the brick footings of the Green Coat School cut through a narrow deposit of silty clay, which contained fragments of delft biscuit ceramic. Below this was a well-mixed ploughsoil, which in turn overlay natural flood-plain gravels. {italon}AIP{italoff} {italon}SMR Primary Record Numbers:{italoff} DRS92 (Museum of London Site Code) |
