Abstract: |
During the watching brief a 1.1m wide stone wall, with hard ragstone blocks on the river side, a chalk rubble fill, and wooden stakes anchoring, was revealed. A 2-inch brick fragment of a peg tile may have come from Tipcott House, recorded in the 16th century. A geoarchaeological auger survey showed the site to be largely subject to erosion until possible clearance activity released sediment into the catchments in the Iron Age. [Au(adp)] |
