Abstract: |
Archaeological evaluation of the Recreation Ground recorded no evidence of the medieval settlement of Ettington or any associated activity, although the site was within the previously predicted area of settlement. The evaluation also found no ridge and furrow evidence, which had been recorded as far as the southern boundary of the site. It was possible that the site may have been located at the rear of medieval plots extending back from Banbury Road, however, no finds of earlier than 18th century date were recovered. Plough scars cutting the geological natural were most likely to have been of post-medieval origin. [Au(abr)] |
