Abstract: |
An evaluation was carried out at the proposed site of a residential development. The site lay in the vicinity of the approximate line of Roman Watling Street. Nine trenches were excavated and wall foundations were found which related to an 18th/19th century farmstead which previously stood on the site. Three sherds of residual medieval pottery were recovered, along with some post-medieval pottery and a bottle. It was concluded that only limited remains of the farmhouse would be affected by development, and that no further work would be necessary. [AIP] |
